A long line of leaders from Barisan Nasional component parties, including Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Najib Razak, called on Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to express their support for him to continue leading the government.
Component party chiefs including MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting and MIC president Datuk Seri Samy Vellu also called on Abdullah to express their continued support as the coalition chief.
Among Umno leaders who called on Abdullah were Youth chief Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, Wanita chief Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz, Puteri head Datuk Noraini Ahmad, Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob, Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Umno information chief Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib, FT Umno chief Datuk Seri Zulhasnan Rafique, Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, and Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
Abdullah will be having an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at 6pm to inform the king that Barisan Nasional had won the general elections and that he was ready to form the gov ernment.
He is expected to be sworn in at 10am, 10th March '08.
